THE SHOULDER REVERSE PEAR

This float is shaped perfectly for holding back against the flow, developed by French anglers for their big heavy flowing rivers such as the Rhine etc..

Similar to the standard reverse pear the body now takes on the extra wide body with a shoulder, the current holds the float down in the water, helping the float not to rise out, when holding back.

The position of the float eye, is very important on all pole floats, usually just below the top of the body of the float, this allows control of the float and because of the aerodynamics’ of the pole floats, the holding back and lifting of the float makes it a unique working part of the float.

Over shotting this float can work extremely well, allowing the float to be held back in a fixed position in the water.

Laying-on is a big advantage with this float as the float will not ride out of the swim it can with confidence be held back knowing the bait is laying on or near the bottom depending on shotting.
This can be shotted just to the base of the tip, and be used to fish the swim very slowly, the bites are unmistakable; the float is very sensitive and yet can be controlled with the help of the pole. The tip of the float can either be plastic or cane. I like to use interchangeable plastic tips. As they can be changed with the changing light conditions.

The base of these float are usually wire or carbon, this helps to stabilize the float in turbulent conditions, although a cane stem may be just as good in smoother conditions. I always use three silicone rubber sleeves, top, middle and bottom, this helps the float maintain a fixed position on the line.
